I’ve heard that Brown seems more like a humanities school than a science/math school. What are all of your opinions on this?

brown has some really strong departments in both the sciences and humanities. if you look at the percentage of students that chose to concentrate in each, it's pretty typical of a top-tier university with a liberal arts focus--not noteably different from harvard, dartmouth, columbia, or any of the other ivies.

one thing about brown is that less people tend to classify along a humanities/sciences divide. perhaps as a result of the open curriculum, there is a higher percentage of folks who are passionate about both and pursue both

dcircle's definitely right on.

People associate Brown with the humanities because it's such a "liberal" place. But some of the most popular courses are Neuroscience and Biology classes. There are definitely strong departments in the hard sciences, social sciences, and humanities, as well as people who study in different areas.
