Is Brown out of my reach?

<p>So I think I’ve been aiming too high, but I want to see what you guys think. Do I have a chance of getting in to Brown?</p>

<p>White male
US citizen, formerly NC, but in New Brunswick, Canada since 1/2007</p>

<p>I’m a National Merit Semifinalist</p>

<p>My unweighted GPA is currently about a 3.5, weighted is 4.5, and I’m pulling it up this semester</p>

<p>Current Classes (I’m taking as many AP as I can, but pickings are slim up here)
AP Psych - A
Poli Sci - A
Media Studies - A
AP World History - High B?
Sociology - A</p>

<p>I’ve started two clubs – Philosophy in grade 11 and Ambassadors, a club to help out new students, in grade 12. Otherwise I’m on the school’s Red Cross team, in the Int’l Student Assoc., Students Aware of the World, and several others.</p>

<p>I plan on majoring in anthropology.</p>

<p>SAT: Reading 760, Math 680, Writing 690 (Total 2130)
SATII: Taking Lit and W. Hist in December</p>

<p>Teacher Recommendations: Both really great
Counselor Recommendation: Should be nice</p>

<p>Essay: Everyone likes it so far.</p>

<p>No, you are not aiming too high. Brown is certainly within your reach, but the admit rate is down to an ultra-competitive 15%. Your high school class of 2008 will be facing the most competitive admissions year yet, so be sure to look at other schools as well.</p>
