Is Brown REALLY easier to get into than the other iviez?

it’s often said that Dartiez and Browniez are easier to get into than the other ivies. Is this legitimate?

<3

Statistically, the order is this:

Harvard – ~9%

Princeton/Yale – ~10% (Too close to really make a distinction… I’m NOT arguing that Yale is as good a school Princeton, as prestigious, etc.)

Columbia – ~11%

Brown – ~14%

Dartmouth – ~15%

Penn – ~16%

Cornell – ~20%

what about stanf!!!

Stanford is on par with Yale and Princeton.

Yeah itz so much easier. The other Iviez, especailly Harviez, are really difficultiez.

Hahah oprah I really was expecting to see “Iviez” but you spelled it correctly instead :|

oh i just noticed “iviez” in the title

What most applicants don’t realize is that lots of people who get accepted to Harvard may be rejected by Brown, etc. The extra 4-5% doesn’t mean much.

wolfmanjack, would you happen to be sittin’ plush with a royal flush and aces back to back?

yeah, its hard to compare different schools by admissions rates sometimes just because its based on who is applying, not just on how difficult it is to get in

lawl. browniez r ez.

“wolfmanjack, would you happen to be sittin’ plush with a royal flush and aces back to back?”

i guess you could say that

^ if you didn’t get the reference I’m sorry I wasted your time

American Graffitti is a great movie

“What most applicants don’t realize is that lots of people who get accepted to Harvard may be rejected by Brown, etc. The extra 4-5% doesn’t mean much.”

Yeah, and I know someone who got into Harvard and was rejected by Cornell. Does that mean it’s a better school?

Admissions are a crap shoot in general, but Harvard is obvs better than Brown (and arguably any school).

stanford>harvard>mit>yale>princeton>brown>cornell
there

loll…

forgetting about columbia and penn?

To the mainstream population, Columbia and Penn are preferable (as evidenced, anecdotally though it may be, by my 10 friends at Columbia/Penn who chose those 2 over Brown).

To the fringe (read: Brown students), Brown is preferable. Again, I can cite my good friend who was accepted to MIT and Brown, and chose Brown!

Anyhow, they’re all fantastic schools.

7 Brown 2433
8 Columbia 2392
9 Amherst 2363
10 Dartmouth 2357
11 Wellesley 2346
12 U Penn 2325

Yeah… muerte has some friends who wanted to go to NYC or study business so magically Penn and Columbia jump ahead in revealed preferences despite numbers indicating otherwise…

This is why this crap is stupid. So many people talk about subjective or anecdotal crap and what information people have tried to collect on this sort of thing is barely passable as useful.

Why don’t overly competitive high school students sit down, relax, and assess what they want from their education and then choose the right destination to create that experience?

Stop worrying about meaningless crap. Life is too short and too awesome to spend time wondering how you can compare every aspect of your life to those around you.

Modestmelody, that study hasn’t been updated since 2004.

Since then, Brown has languished between 12-16 in US News, and Penn/Columbia have been firmly ensconced in the top 10.

Do you really think that college applicants have remained static in their views?

The very fact that Wellesley is revealed preferable to Penn makes it very dubious. I can’t think of any Wellesley girls who even had the grades for an Ivy except for Cornell.
