Is Calculus 2 and higher a good idea?

I noticed that a lot of people applying say they're taking Calculus 3, Multivariable Calculus, or Linear Algebra. I only plan to go up to Calculus BC and Statistics. Does it give any advantage to take Calculus 2 and above? Why aren't there any APs for these classes? Do you have to retake them at the University?

Also, since Harvard doesn't look at Freshman grades, is it a good idea to not take APs in 9th grade?

APs will improve your overall GPA, and thus your class rank, if your school weights them. Are you sure Harvard does not look at 9th grade? I thought only Princeton used grades 10-12?

They look at Freshman grades, everyone does. They just might not weight them as much. Basically they only say that so kids don't feel as pressures if they struggle coming into high school. Doing well freshman is a positive thing.

Oh. I guess its just Princeton, then. I'm taking Honors Biology instead of AP because its easier and my teacher said we won't get College Credit even if we pass the AP test, since we're freshman. I'm taking seven classes instead of the regular six, so I'll have only a 4.4 as a Freshman, some people will have 4.5s Am I OK?

What about if its a 4.3? A 4.17? Right now, I have a 4.17 because they didn't count one of the 5.0 classes yet, and I got a B+ in PE.

Also, does an A- count less than an A?

Every other person IVe met is taking something lower than 21a, so no need for mvc or higher. In fact there are only a few non-math concentraters even have HS experience in post-bc material. Stop worrying about it.
