I was planning on transferring to another school's program that requires calc 3b, but I took calc 3 (not b). Would it transfer and fulfill that requirement or would I need to take calc 3b at that school ? Is there a difference between the two ? Thanks

Check if the target school has an articulation agreement with your current school that shows you what transfers as what. If not, compare the course descriptions and/or ask the target school’s departments of math and your major.

Since you did not name the two schools, courses, or major, no one else can really give you much more help.

The school im currently at is William Paterson University and the one I wanted to transfer in was New Jersey Institutde of Technology

MATH 2010 Calculus III (4 credits)
Study of vectors and the Geometry of Space; vector valued functions, differentiation and integration of vector-valued functions; calculus of functions of several variables including partial differentiation and multiple integrals; higher order derivatives and their applications; Vector Fields; Line and Surface integrals.

Your calculus 3 course appears to be the closest course to calc 3B that your school offers. They both require the second semester of calculus (integrals and series as a pre-req). I’d recommend you email a mathematics faculty advisor at NJIT or an undergraduate admissions advisor (whatever they have) with your question. Make sure that you copy paste the course description and attach a syllabus of your course in the email.
