I just got accepted to Case and I've been reading about it and it seems like so many people don't like it.

I want a fun college experience so I'm wondering if I would like it at Case. Thanks

Haha same even the guy who interviewed me said that students were mostly focused on academics. I’m a good student, but I need a social life too so if anyone has experience/stories about this school I would love to know as well!

It’s pretty stereotypically nerdy, but people might not like it because it’s also in Cleveland, where there isn’t anything to do

I think you might be surprised at how much there is to do in Cleveland. Case is just steps away from the museums (and they are high quality), there is a great music scene in Cleveland, excellent theater, and Case is a stone’s throw from Little Italy, excellent food.

And as I recall, Case students get a cheapo pass to the symphony. The Cleveland Orchestra is one of the best in the world.

Is there a lot of partying?

caroline93 if you like partying you should go to state school like ohio state. I got rejected by case western this year hahahaha. But I got into Rensselaer Polytech which is better than case western. Anyway, there are lots of things to do at case western like going to baseball park, cleveland is big city compare to where most of others schools are located

I only applied to privates. And why are you saying rennsaeler is better? It’s ranked the same haha.

Their rankings are the same, but RPI is much more selective and has stronger programs (mainly in Engineering).

How is case’s nursing program? I heard it’s really good but just want to know how it differs from, let’s say, a state school’s nursing program.

yeah go RPI. hahaha i’m gonna major in engineering

I go to case and lots of people complain about it but honestly if you want a social life it is easy to have one. Many of the people who complain about it spend most of their times in their rooms. There are parties and people do drink and stuff, it is just not as common as at other schools. There is lots to do in the area and the school does a bunch of events. Case is definitely a school where you can have a great experience if you make it that way.

With all due respect, as a Clevelander, Cleveland gets boring very quickly.

My brother goes here. He says theres not much to do in Cleveland. So he gets pretty bored just hanging at the university all day.

My son is a freshman at Case and loves it. He does spend a lot of time studying but he has never been bored. Case certainly isn’t known to be a party school but there seems to be plenty to do. I think it entirely depends upon your mind set. If you are looking for a school with parties 7 nights a week you probably won’t find that at Case.

That is based on who you ask. Cleveland isn’t exactly a “happening” city. my best advice based on personal experience, is to choose a school because it will offer you the best education for your future. Sure it is nice to have a social life, and you will at Case, but, it will be what you make of it. Definately join a frat or sorority and try to get involved as much as possible. Winter is brutal in Cleveland so definately keep that in mind especially if you aren’t from an area of the United States that has “Winter”. Case is an excellent University and you will receive a top notch education - congrats on your acceptance!

No, Case isn’t that bad. Academics is a huge part, but like an earlier post stated, it is easy to have a social life. Cleveland is definitely not the most popular city in the world, but there’s tons of stuff to do on and around campus. You just have to put yourself out there and make an effort.

All the folks complaining about Cleveland must never bother to venture beyond their parents’ front lawn. I’m sure there are plenty of things to do if you seek them out, as Case Western is smack dab in a museum district and the city is home to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Don’t you folks ever read a newspaper or the internet?

Sorry but my idea of a good time is not going to a museum, or paying $20 for a hamburger and fries at the Rock’n Roll Hall of Fame.

LakeWashington, I’ve been to every museum multiple times. They get pretty boring after awhile. Sure, there’s a beach, but it’s cold most of the year. Sure, there are parks, but they’re relatively far from campus. There’s plenty of good hole in the wall restaurants, though, so that’s something to look forward to.

This is making me so nervous about Cleavland! I’m from Boston which is an amazing college town so I feel like I would think a different city as very boring. I love shopping and concerts so how are these kind of things in Cleavland?

Also I’m not a drinker, but I love socializing. Would a Sorority be good for me? I don’t want to have a bad “party girl” rep though.
