Everyone should be treated fairly. Traditional chivalry is insulting to women.

^ Not really. Are you saying that guys shouldn’t like walk girls to their doors to make sure they get home safely? Women are physically weaker than men and that is the reason for most of the traditional chivalry.

^That’s messed up you said that. Some men are physically weaker than women.

As a whole, though, he is right. Bone/muscle structure and all that. And scientists theorize that it is the reason for the traditional male/female power structure. Contrast with, say, lions, where the females are powerful and do most of the hunting. Of course, humanity has advanced past mere bodily physical force, but social mores rooted in millions of years of development are hard to overcome, and require a lot of conscious action.

^^ The vast majority of men are physically stronger than women. There’s a reason why the quality of women’s sports isn’t as high as the quality of men’s sports and that’s why women don’t play in the NFL. The strongest woman isn’t anywhere near as strong as the strongest man. Historically women who weren’t protected by a man were probably going to get attacked and raped. Even now women have a greater chance of being attacked if they’re alone on the street than a man.

I actually had a guy ask to carry my books for me a month or so ago during school. I was touched, but declined because my locker was two steps away.

I dunno, my opinion is that everyone should be kind to everyone no matter what gender. I do think that it is nice when guys look out for girls, but it shouldn’t be expected in any way.

But making a woman carry fifty pounds on her own even though there are plenty of men nearby who could do it easily isn’t insulting.

DolorousEdd and almost there are right. Women, as a whole, are physically weaker than men.

Exactly. Women are far more likely to be victims than men.

You guys are right. But I was thinking about women, who claim they can do things just as good, if not better than a man. You know these women, they want to prove their strong, independent, and usually put men down. Kinda like feminists but more of a mutation of them.
