Easy match, IMO. Your credentials are stellar.

Thank you. I like Carnegie Mellon alot actually.

Match/low match. I think your stats are similar to mine so good luck to both of us!

Unless you really mess up on your essays, I’d call CMU a safety.

Your stats are almost the same as mine! And i got in under ED 1 for Electrical and computer engineering  So you should be fine!
I got
2290 on the SAT
800-Math lvl2
800-Phy

^nice. thanks.

College Confidential really hasn’t changed in 4 years. There’s still people who look excellent on paper asking other people if they could get in.

Based on everything you’ve said about yourself you have a good shot at getting in, but I’m sure you already knew that.

One of the things that will affect your acceptance that you haven’t posted is the high school that you went to. Universities know which schools hand out 4.0’s like candy and which schools are tougher on the GPA. They also have statistics on how well people from your high school have done in the past at CMU which will effect your acceptance. I highly recommend asking your guidance counselor on your chances since they have a much better idea on if you will get in than anyone on this site.

And here’s another data point for yinz:
Accepted Early Decision entering CMU Fall 2006
Math: 690
Read: 740
Writing: I don’t remember / I don’t think it mattered my year

AP Chem: 5
AP Calc BC: 5/5
AP Bio: 5
AP Enviro Sci: 5
AP World: 4
AP Gov: 4
IB Physics: 4 (On a 7 point scale, I don’t think I submitted my IB scores)

I played Ultimate Frisbee all 4 years. We self coached and ran our own tournaments.

This was done at Bethesda Chevy Chase highschool in Montgomery County.

Other than that, everything is good and I hope you have a perfectly wonderful day.

In as long as you don’t break the law/get expelled :)

I will take that advice, steelersngators. I guess my house-egging days are now over (kidding). :D

Can someone comment if they now consider the actual results on the AP exams towards admission. When DS applied two years ago, we were told that what counted for admission was the fact he took the AP course, and not the actual score. The latter, we were told only mattered after admission to determine which prerequisites he had met.
Back to OP’s original question, I’m not expert, but you look like a match.

I have similar SAT I and SAT II scores, but I have one other big hook: International Math Olympiad Silver. I’m applying to School of Science Math Dept. Somebody told me this is rather like safety. Do they accept one student into a school, or do they look to apps by dept?

They told me AP scores are not a factor for admission.

So I’m assuming AP Scholar with Distinction is also not considered for admission?

Even though they say that I personally believe that a bad AP score(3 or below) will hurt you a lot and a good AP score (4 or 5) will help but not that much. If you win an award like AP scholar with distinction then put it down on your resume.

By the way during my interview they said every student should send in a resume. If you already applied and did not send one in I’m sure they won’t mind if its only 5 days late.

SteelersNgators: Thanks, we stuck the resume into that final “additional information” download on the Common App. Good luck to all!

Safety School

No chance sorry. You have terrible scores. Dont even bother applying and waisting both the admission’s staff’s and your time. Use that time to get better scores on the SATs and APs. Why would you even ask us when you knew we would all say that you have no chance whatsoever in this venture. Im sorry, but im being frank.

i assume you’re a girl.

so when do you start?
