Is College Board Accurate?

I’ve been reviewing many colleges on the collegeboard website, i was curious to find out whether or not it’s accurate. It seems to me they post what the average ACT and SAT scores are and the average GPA that prospective student’s were recieving at the time of applying. The scores and gpa’s seem relatively lower than what people on here are saying about chances.

UCs are very good with providing their averages and the methodology for those averages. There's no need to rely on the collegeboard when learning about UCs.

I heard that the scores posted, is just the scores of those accepted. Like UCR or Merced, have 3.5-ish, but that's because alot of people apply to those schools as safties. So you have a good chance at getting in even with a below 'average' score. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Just kinda heard it around.

Yes, the scores/stats posted are almost always those of the admitted students. This would explain why schools such as UCR have such high average GPAs since many people (and this is in fact facilitated with how easy it is to apply to more schools in UC via the UC app) will simply put them as "I know I'll get in for sure" safeties. The real incoming class...well, I know someone who wasn't UC eligible that is going to Riverside.
