Hey guys,

I took the psat practice test in preparation for the psat on Oct 18, 2014. I'm a junior and am aiming for the national merit scholarship. On the practice one, I scored a 209 and for my state, the cutoff ranges from 213-215. Can I expect my score to be higher on the real test?

Thanks in advance!

The PSAT practice test from collegeboard is pretty accurate as far as practice tests go, since it’s written by the test maker itself. On test day, your score will most likely be around the one you got on your practice test, but it depends on many factors. IMO, your score on the SAT/PSAT depends partially on your luck–if the questions are rather easy, then you will be likely to score higher. You may be more stressed on test day, so that may lower your score. Make sure to rest well the night before and eat a good breakfast.

If you want more practice, try doing some SAT questions from the BB, or simply just google previous years’ PSAT practice tests.

I would always assume that on the actual test things are a little harder and you are a little more nervous but your score will not fluctuate much. You are doing great, stay with it!
