Is College overrated?

In an essay of 10 paragraphs or more explain whether you think college is overrated or not.......

JK. But in all seriousness, do you guys feel that it is? I've read mixed emotions on this forum from college seniors saying "It gets old after the first year" to college seniors saying "I loved it! It's what you make of it!" So do you think college is overrated?

Depends what college. I say no.

College is what you make of it.

If you make plenty of money upon graduation, then no.

It depends on your personality and state of mind.

If you’re there to get something out of college and build up your knowledge and experience for the future, it’s not overrated.

Here is the only way college can be over-rated: if the opportunity cost + tuition is not recouped through increased earnings across one’s life. Putting dollar figures on things simplifies life greatly :D

I underrated my college experience. Before I left I was optimistic, and the actual experience blew my mind. fwiw, I’m paying very little for school, will have zero debt when I graduate. I think that is also a factor

I agree with darkdream, it definitely depends on what you do in college. I think it opens so many great opportunities so I wouldn’t say that it’s overrated, and a college education definitely isn’t.
