Is combining Bio+Psych the same as Neuroscience?

Hi guys!

I don't really know what I want to do after college, but I'm strongly considering either a double major in Biology+Psychology or a major in Neuroscience. Are they essentially the same thing (as in, do they open the same doors for grad school opportunities)?

Are there any jobs that combine Biology and Psychology besides Neuroscientist/Neuropsychologist?

And finally, if I major in Psychology, is there any way to go into Neuropsychology or some field similar to that without having majored in Neuroscience? I'm looking for a balance because I'm not as into the hard sciences and I'm more into the Psych area of neuroscience. Is there something in the middle that exists?

Bio+Psych is not the same as a major in Neuro. Biology is a very broad field and can range from birds and plants to ecology and evolution. Psychology is also broad as well with the social, developmental, quantitative, cognitive, and psychobiological. A degree in neuroscience will likely have aspects of both fields, but would be more specific.

Other jobs that might fit with the bio+psych combo are health psychologist, biopsychologist, psychiatrist, neurologist, forensic science and also many fields dealing with animal behavior.

A psychology degree will qualify you for a neuropsychology program. If you’re considering this route, choose elective courses that will give you the background knowledge and demonstrate interest. You could take courses such as cognitive neuroscience, animal behavior, neuroscience, quantitative neuroscience, human memory, etc.
