I want to know the answer to this question, because I am literally forced to go to a Community College, which by the way was my last resort, but now I'm forced..

I have a sibling that goes to a Univeristy but commutes. He says it is the same as going to a Community College, because he went there his first two-years in his college career. He felt the University was actually worse since it was a longer travel.

Is commuting to a University basically be the same as going to a Community College? How much of an impact do dorms really have?

no thoughts/opinions?

The university will have harder classes, more class options, younger students, bigger campus, more opportunities to get involved, etc.

They’re not the same at all in my opinion.

Seems similar as far as social life…

Thing is at a community college, everyone commutes. At a university, there are a lot of residents or people who live very close to campus. It requires more effort to make friends as a uni commuter, but it’s much easier than at community college.

The biggest problem with CC from what I’ve heard it is with a bunch of random weirdos, too many actually.

Meh, you do get people who are just going through the motions I guess. By your second year you’ll probably be able to weed out the people who are actually there to make something of themselves and the people who are going so they look good to the parole officer.

You’re technically doing the same thing, but CC isn’t so bad. I actually loved (yes, loved!) my community college, and it’s not uncommon to hear people say they wish they could have stayed all 4 years. It was a really great school with a lot of great opportunities. I got to jump into real-world experience with my major as soon as my second semester instead of having to suffer through a lot of “intro. to” and boring classes first.

And trust me, you have no reason to be jealous of dorms College life is pretty cool, but the dorms are usually just a piece of crap that you’re paying way too much money for. You’re saving SO much money this way, be proud!

Yeah I know people who prefer CC since it is closer…I still don’t want to go to one, but like I said, I am being forced

and yeah, I am jealous of dorms, they get to live on their damn own with no stupid adult supervision.

I wouldn’t be surprised IF I get straight As at my CC and my parents once again fail on me with stupid crap.

Yeah, pretty much … I swore I wouldn’t subject my Ss to commuting and I haven’t, so far - younger one is still in HS.

I would think that socially, it would be a similar situation since you’re not going to be living with your peers either way. Academically though, I think there’s a world of a difference.
