Is Cornell need-blind for internationals starting from this year?

Yes but only limited students get financial aid. Need-blind doesn’t mean they will necessarily give you financial aid. Need-blind means how much your family can contribute doesn’t affect admission. So they can accept you but give you zero.

^^^ so if they will give they will give it full otherwise zero, is there anything in between?
is there any space on the common app where you mention how much you can contribute?

at Cornell, admissions and financial aid are two different offices - need-blind means admissions doesn’t look at how much you can pay to decide whether or not to accept you - as they are blind to your need for admissions.

at Cornell, for domestic students, the financial aid is need-based, meaning that they don’t look at your merits to decide how much financial aid to award you, they look at your “needs” - which is with their calculations, not your idea of how much you need.

for international students, there is much less money available for financial aid and Cornell has admitted some international students but offered no financial aid at all.

its not always that simple but that’s the basic idea.

^Yes, that’s correct.

Is this a change in policy? From what I knew, Cornell was not need blind for internationals, at least up until this year.

Yeah, a foreign exchange student from Germany in my class just e-mailed the office of admissions and they are NOT need-blind for internationals.

Applying for Financial Aid
Cornell has a need-blind admissions policy, which means that we review your admissions application without considering whether youve applied for aid; Cornell awards all financial aid on the basis of demonstrated financial need. Cornell is pleased to be able to provide financial aid to students who are citizens of countries other than the United States.
International applicants (students who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents, or who do not have refugee/asylee status) are eligible to apply for financial assistance and should follow the instructions listed below.

ok, this is 2010 instructions…

Cornell is need-blind to international students. I remember I have asked admission office this question

ok i got it now, i have a simple question if i have 100K in which ivy i have a best chance(supposing i have stats very much similar to those students which were accepted to schools like Harvard etc on full aid from my country).
