is cornell the easiest ivy to get into

what do u think. if not please elaborate

Even if it is…it’s one of the hardest ones once you get in (for engineering at least). And no, a <20% acceptance rate RD makes it among the most selective colleges and plently of very qualified students get rejected

i understand what you are saying but is it less harder to get into that UPenn

Yes, it’s the easiest Ivy to get into; no, no one who actually attends Cornell cares about the fact that it doesn’t share the pompous attitude of the other Ivies that lower admission rates are, for some inexplicable reason, better…

If anyone can elaborate on this, please enlighten me, as I’ve never been able to understand why higher selectivity is considered beneficial for the applicants. I can definitely see it as an advantage from the school’s perspective, but never have I been able to from the perspective of a student.

statistically yes lol, but if you apply to Cornell because of that, I doubt it :)

yes and no? though I don’t know the specifics, upenns SCEAS and CAS probably have acceptance rates slightly higher than the average. and perhaps higher than cornells, but its close.

If you’re judging solely by acceptance rate, yes. However, take into account that Cornell has 7 undergrad colleges, each of which specialize in different fields, and that your acceptance into any of them depends upon how well you fit within the particular school you apply to.

Don’t marginalize the quality of education Cornell can offer based on acceptance rate. As far as I’m concerned, the large student body at Cornell accounts for a great deal of diversity and ingenuity which is hard to match in the other ivies.

is it true its easier to get in to the college of engineering if ur a girl?

Yes cornell is the easiest ivy league to get into but that’s only because it’s the biggest one. If you look at how many students get accepted and enroll every year at the other ivy leagues and compare it to Cornell, Cornell accepts almost twice as many students, purely bacause it is so big.

Well…Cornell may be the easiest Ivy to get into, but it’s the hardest one to stay into.

Perhaps the easiest to get into since we have the largest student population in comparison to the other Ivy’s, but also means we have a larger pool of applications. I can tell you this though, the majority of all the students I’ve worked with, Undergrad or Grad are students of high caliber and worked hard to be here.

This is one school where students take pride that we aren’t handed free As, don’t study and you’ll do terrible and flunk out. Might explain our stress levels are through the roof and people have been offing themselves lately…

lmao i like how u phrase that…offing themselves

I think it’s because they admit a larger class. Also, the weather. I’d apply if it weren’t for the harsh winters. If I do go to Cornell, it will be for grad school, when I am a little more adjusted.

Relative to the other ivies, it is easier but it’s still harder than lotsa other schools like NW, CMU, etc

Cornell also has a Public School branch that include school’s like ILR. It is not necessarily easier to get into these schools, but they have to accept a certain number of students from NY. Also, the applicant pool isn’t proportionally larger than the other Ivies. Harvard has roughly 30,000 applicants compared to Cornell’s 35-40,000, for a lot less seats. I mean, if it was proportional like that, you would need around 80,000 applicants to Cornell.

The same caliber applicants apply to the Ivies, and the fact that Cornell is the largest of the school just makes it “less selective” in a statistical sense. So, the answer is, yes Cornell is the easiest Ivy to get into, but you better be as smart as the applicants applying to the other Ivies.

i didnt apply to princeton penn or dartmouth, accepted by cornell and rejected by all other ivies, so yeah so far cornell is the easiest one to get into. apparently arts and sciences acceptance rate this year was 14%

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/895010-official-cornell-university-class-2014-rd-results.html

University of Penn has acceptance rate of 18 % and Cornell 19%- so not much difference.

Easiest only because it can house so many students. The Caliber of the students are as good as it gets so be prepared to work hard here. Cornell is no easier than HYPSM or even any other top college like Duke

Penn is 14% but close enough
