Is country music big at UW-Madison?

It is the Midwest, so I am curious if they listen to country music a lot there.

I highly doubt it.

Depends where you are at on campus. For instance, over by the lakeshore dorms you have the dorms for the Shortcoursers, which are the students that study pretty the farming sciences. They have their own dorm because they start their classes late and finish early for farming back at their homes. That is just a small fraction though.

*pretty much

The Midwest does NOT mean an association with that type of music- especially for city people. Look at where those singers come from- not this region.

Big? No. But some do listen to it, especially those from more rural areas.

I grew up in Madison and spent some time on campus and can tell you that students’ music choices are very diverse.
Some love country and others hate it.
More people in Madison might listen to country than people in Chicago, but you will not be overwhelmed by country music in Madison. What you’ll hear most in the dorms is what’s on the pop radio stations.
