Is Dartmouth REALLY easier to get into than other ivies?

sneamia--sorry to assume, but are you asian by any chance?

quite a lot of kids at D, especially asians, seem to be the type that couldn't get into another ivy. I was one of those that would have initially chosen any other ivy over D, but ended up choosing D over cornell because of the money.
But there's quite a lot more kids, asian and otherwise, that have always viewed D as their first choice, including my freshmen year roommate who chose D over Yale (much to my dismay, as at the time of our initial meeting, I wasn't quite so pro-D).

and this was definitely true of most of the people that I met at D. They have mostly had a Penn/Brown admission as well, and many had even chosen it over Yale and Princeton (though I don't remember anyone that chose D over Harvard... but apparently D wins 7% of crossadmit battles with H)

i mean
let's all take a second and look at this:

well, here's my opinion:
ivy league admission is quite unique. as a lot of you guys know, there are plenty of students with perfect scores and perfect at everything, getting rejected from ivy leagues. there are applicants who got rejected from darmouth (cornell, brown, upenn, columbia) but got into HYP and vice versa. so it's hard to pin point and say which ivy league is harder (or easier) to get in (although ppl and experts have "special formula or stats" to figure that out...)

I'm Asian, but Dartmouth was my first choice by far.

All the kids I asked/hang out with are white.

At any rate, that was simply the impression that I got. I'm actually interested in this, so I'll probably end up taking a survey.

One data point: DS's roommate who wants to transfer to Yale, which he announced upon arrival, is also Asian.

most bogus thing ever

the academic calculator that is

That's pretty lame- to just show up and essentially say "I wish I were somewhere else."

according to my mom's friend who works in the admissions world, HYP are obviously top, but they usually consider dartmouth just below that, the columbia, brown, penn (typically in that order) then cornell. So, no. Dartmouth is not easier than the other ivies, just hyp

for acceptance rates, i thought it went hyp columbia dartmouth brown (by like .1 %) penn cornell.

sats etc. are generally higher for dartmouth because it has a far more self-selected applicant pool than the others.
