I would say if you are sitting in an office for an interview where they don't know what Dartmouth is - You're in the wrong place.

Actually, now that you mention it, I was thinking of hopping the pond and working in the UK for a while. I really like the UK and Europe altogether but I was just a bit worried that a Dartmouth degree wouldn't look as prestigious abroad. I mean, am I wrong about that?

I think you'll be fine. I don't think most people will know much about Dartmouth, but they might know that it's part of the Ivy League and they'll think highly of the Ivy League. If you say Dartmouth and get a confused look, just say that it's part of the Ivy League.

The thread seemed sort of split between "is a Dartmouth degree prestigious" (yes, of course it's a great school) and "is Dartmouth recognized worldwide" (not much, most people won't have heard of it... but that doesn't matter too much).

I couldn't agree more.

Well in the UK you may face the question "what was an American doing at Dartmouth?" as the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, is the UK equivalent to Annapolis.
