Is double majoring in busiess and econ worth it?

I notice a lot of pre-business folk would plan to double major in econ as well. My question is if a double major is worth it/helpful in terms of getting a job or grad school. I want to do accounting (nothing overly ambitious, no IB hopes for me). If I stick to business I can spread out prereqs further apart and take more GPA boosting classes, but if I also want to do econ as well (assuming I get into Haas), I will have a packed junior and senior year and my GPA won't be as high for sure. So, I guess what I'm trying to ask is for an aspiring accountant, is a double major even worth it?

I'm thinking about whether to keep UGBA 10 for fall or spring. My other fall classes are
Astron c10
Music 27
Educ 98 a study skills class
math 16a
((ugba 10))
My schedule is pretty light overall.
I'm an incoming freshman btw.

no, if you’re only doing it for recruiting sake and you know u want to do accounting, becasue pretty much all gpa. alot of accounting recruits not in haas do just as well as bus majors cuz they hav the classes and a high gpa

people that usually double in econ do it becasue they like the subject/prereqs are similar/ they want to learn something more theoretical

A double major will open new doors, but it will require significant extra effort. My concern is that the majors are too closely related. Double majors are desirable if they are only somewhat related (e.g. Business and Mathematics). If you are sure you can do well, then go for it, but otherwise, a single major is fine.

Hahah you’re taking the exact same breadths that I’m taking this fall.

I’m doing econ/business double major because I’m confident that I’ll do well. And I’m pursuing investment banking or management consulting so that would give me an advantage over others with the same GPA. Also, I think learning about econ would help me in the finance world with a deeper understanding of how everything fits together.

I also had the concern about the packed junior/senior year upper division courses, but I realized that if I took an econ class every semester, then I would have finished almost all of my econ requirements in my first two years

Freshman Fall: Econ 1
Freshman Spring: Econ 100A
Sophomore Fall: Econ 100B, One upper division elective
Sophomore Spring: Two upper division electives
Junior/Senior Years: Two upper division electives, Econ 140. (3 classes over 4 semesters)

An economics major actually doesn’t require that many courses  Sure, it’ll be tougher, but Haas students are fighting with HYPSM kids for those Wall Street jobs, so any little bit will help. Good luck!

I was also thinking of double majoring in business (provided I get accepted) and music, but it seems like music. How hard is the music major?
