Hey so I’m currently an environmental science major. I’m concerned about the job market after I graduate so I’m looking to enhance my degree by double majoring. I was thinking about double major in environmental science and political science. I want to be involved in legislation on environmental issues, but I’m not sure if these would be marketable degrees. Would a political science degree be useful for me? Is there another major I should consider instead to go with my environmental science degree? Thanks.
I do not think you need to double major in Political Science to be involved in Environmental legislation. A minor in Environmental policy would probably do the trick. You probably have a few policy courses required in your major.
My older son is an Environmental Science major has already taken several policy courses for his major and emphasis track so he is planning to get a minor since it is only additional 3 courses.
I think that a double major in poli sci is a fine choice, but I agree that you don’t need to double major, nor do I think that double-majoring in political science will particularly enhance your career chances.
