Is Duke a school that puts less weight on SAT writing??

does duke put less emphasis on SAT writing section?

Yes, I think so. I got into Duke over a lot of people with scores higher than 2280, all of these people would have M + V composites lower than 1560 (usually the 790-800 Writing crowd).

They don't count the writing section. adcom told me.

I don't know about now because it's been out longer, but I think what happened before is they view it as an optional SAT II score, and if it's one of your 2 highest they take it into consideration a lot more than if it is not. I think they care about it, but there is not as much emphasis yet compared to some other schools

asked the person reading my app. she stated that they view it more like an SAT II, and the majority of Duke's standardized test evaluation is based on the SAT Math and Critical Reading.

how do u kno the specific person reading your app

nmehta4: i think that duke guarantees that 2 people read your application (sometimes 3). from what i understand, the first reader is just a preliminary reader, so you don't really know who that's going to be. the second reader is your regional admissions officer. the link to the admissions officers is: http://www.admissions.duke.edu/jump/thed/contact.asp

hope to see you all at duke next year!
