Is Duke University possible?

<p>Hi! I am only a sophmore now but Duke is really important to me and I just wanted to see if I had a good shot: (I am predicting my junior year)</p>

100+ more hours volunteering</p>

<p>Hopefully a really great essay and recommendations </p>

<p>I haven't been to the school but if I love it when I do I will apply early decision. My dad also went to Duke. </p>

<p>Sorry this is so premature! I just wanted to not get my hopes up. This last semester I got a 3.4 uw gpa and will that be a problem? </p>

<p>And are there any other schools that may be a good fit for me? </p>

<p>Duke is a very elite college and thus is rather unpredictable with acceptance. HOWEVER, the fact that your dad went to Duke is a hook I believe. All in all, I think your EC’s are fine, grades and classes are good. </p>

<p>I think you have a shot…you should definitely apply!</p>

<p>Your SAT and ACT scores need to be finalized though. A 2000 is different from a 2300 in MANY ways. And on a 36 scale, “around 34” doesn’t help much, you know? Once you have that info, do come back!</p>
