Is early action better than applying regular decision?

A number of schools I will be applying to offer early action. Generally speaking, are the chances of getting accepted higher when applying early action? Keep in mind I am not applying to the Ivies like many CC users are, I would be applying early action to schools such as LMU, SMU, Univ. of San Diego, etc.

Yes, if you have a choice. Regardless Ivies or not, if you have decent stats and looking for merit-scholarships, applying early will give you the advantage of knowing early whether you get accepted and the amount of scholarships you’ll be receiving. Especially if you’re applying to selective schools. It really helped us when DS was applying to Chapman for their film programs and we knew how selective and competitive Chapman has become.
