Vanderbilt is my absolute first choice school, I've been set on it since I was 14 and now that I'm a junior, I'm thinking about applying early decision. Will it really increase my chances? I want to apply to Peabody College at Vanderbilt and if I'm not mistaken the acceptance rate at Peabody is already slightly higher than that of Arts & Sciences? Also, my mom doesn't want me to apply early decision because she's afraid I won't get any or enough scholarship/merit/financial aid and that I'll be strapped into massive student loans and debt. Is it worth me applying being that I know wholeheartedly that Vanderbilt is my first choice?

Honestly, it depends on your stats! GPA, scores, ECs - things like that!

Is Vanderbilt a school that awards less FA in early decision vs. in regular decision?

And please, post your file…

I’m not sure whether or not they give less money for early decision actually.

My unweighted GPA is a 3.8 and my SAT score is 2050, I haven’t taken ACTs yet but I will in June. Leadership and extra curricular wise I think I’m doing well, I’m in 6 clubs, on council for one, I volunteer with special olympics, I regularly play 4 instruments, I sing, dance, act, I’ve played all of my sports (track and field hockey) at the varsity level since freshman year, captain of my field hockey team, I’m in 2 honor societies, I’m in all classes at the highest level at my school since my school doesn’t offer AP. My high school also has a 20% acceptance rate and you have to test to get into it.

Do I have any chance of actually getting into Vanderbilt?
