is economics a business major?

just wondering...

no, it's considered social science

really????

i think hes being sarcastic

i dont think so

i think so because I highly doubt economics is a social science........or so dey say

In my high school econmics is under the social science category...

well it porbably depends. financial economics is very numbers based so that's probably business, but behavioral economics....could be considered a social science. I could be wrong, but economics is always separate from specific "business" programs. I always thought business was like finance, management, etc.

There may be a business economics specialty under a business degree (like marketing, accounting, finance), but at the university I went to Economics was not in the School of Business. You could get a BA in Business Administration or a BA in Economics - two different degrees.

at my college, economics is a social science.

take princeton for example: no undergrad business. So you take econ.

i mean heres my deal--i want to be a lawyer but i also want to have some business type degree that would prove to my future employes at interviews and applications and stuff that i know more than just law and liberal arts..so i don't know if i'm so gungho to go to a biz school for undergrad like a Stern but i would definitely major in econ at the general colleg..would the econ degree from a college of arts and science achieve what i mention above?

oh, well then. i'm doing the same thing. i'm an econ major/math minor, but i'm seriously considering law school.

i think econ would be just fine for what you are planning.

Econ is absolutely a social science.

A lot of schools differentiate business and economics. Even at UPenn, where Economics is a part of the college of arts & sciences, not Wharton.

Economics is a social science. It's the most quantitative of the social sciences and it has countless applications for business, but it is still a social science. And taking econ as a substitute for business would be a huge mistake. I know many people who have done it because they thought it was pretty much just business -- they hated it and did poorly as a result.

it is a social science. It is not a math major, nor a science.

It is about economy and interaction within groups that power the economy.

It is a social science, but usually business majors have to take econimcs classes at one point.
