Is economics major hard in Vandy?

is eco hard in vandy? are the students competitive?

My son is a double major at Vandy-econ and HOD. Yes, the econ major is hard and he really studies intensely in the classes, but he gets A's. Unfortunately, it is not a cake major if that is what you are looking to find. The students are not that competitive at Vandy in general, so you won't find people sabatoging reports or books. As for econ in particular, the professors have been helpful and other students are supportive if you seek out help. For group projects, the students seem to work well together. I took Econ at Penn State and it was hard for me, way back then, so I think it is a hard major anywhere.

Some schools offer Business Economics like Wheaton College, Miami of Ohio and Lehigh to name a few. That major includes more practical business applications in the study of economics vs the theoretical study of economics.

econ can be difficult and demanding, the students are not competitive

thank you.

economics is definitely not a sure-fire A at vandy. TWhile it is true that
students are not competitive, the professors make sure that intro economics (100 and 101) are weeder courses.

so, premed + eco will be pretty tough?

also, can engineering students get DEGREE from CAS or other schools?

thank you

well, it definitely won't be an easy A.
Engineering students can get a degree from CAS or other schools. You just have to fill a form. (It might be hard for CAS to get a degree in engineering since you have to fulfill requirements for CAS. It works only one way and not the other.)

but eco is definitely easier than bio/chem major right?

what exactly is your goal here?

get the professor's names and find them on ratemyprofessor.com. read the comments. should give you a rough idea but take everything you read with a grain of salt when a professor is said to be "easy". different strokes for different folks.

definitely. Also, it is my experience that "hard" professors rated by seval tens of people are actually quite "easy" for me and a lot of people I know.

okay, thanks
