Is EDII more selective than EDI?

Does anyone know whether EDII is more selective at Vanderbilt than EDI? I've heard it said at some schools that EDII is similar to EDI and at other schools that you might as well apply RD because EDII doesn't give you enough of an "edge" to be worth the commitment. Thoughts?

My son is a freshman and was admitted EDII. We believe that it gave him an edge . We know of 2 students from his high school that were as strong or stronger students with good activities that were waitlisted regular decision. Vanderbilt wants to accept people that really want to be there!

I agree. My son who appied EDII had vertually identical stats with a friend who applied RD. My son was accepted and his friend was wait listed.

I’m thinking about applying EDII, would you mind sharing some of your son’s stats? It would be very helpful.

He had a 32 ACT, 3.81 GPA. Private, independent high school that doesn’t let students take AP’s before Jr. year. He took 6 in total. Lots of activities with a leadership theme. Hope this helps!

we had some stellar applicants posting here that they were waitlisted last year…with stats similar to momofmykids and the waitlist was very surprising to them. if you know you want Vandy, go for it ED if you can pay your FAFSA/CSS profile estimate.

He had a 1440/2140 SAT, 99.4 GPA, IB diploma, very good EC’s. Very well regarded public school in the northeast. His friends rsume was virtually identical.

Thank you both for the details!
