Is Electrical/Computer Engineering really worth studying ($ wise)?

That is not correct. my friend just graduated and is making $65k with a bachelor, not even master. On average, EE/CE makes about $55k / year. IF you go to a good engineering school, you’ll make $60 starting out. That’s average. Usually, the salary will increase about 4-5% every year. So if you make $50k, after 2-3 years, you’ll make $60k anyway.

I personally believe you will make more than $65 k / year with a master straight out of school without any experience.

To seesys: Fist of all let me make a statement. I extremely apologize for my previous statement which you quoted. When I typed it, I was at one of my moments wen i was extremely nervous. It was wrong and I apologize.

Second, I know that pretty much every reply said that starting salary is good, the thing is that I a one of those VERY-nervous- about -something guy.

I understand know that I will most likely be well off with that average starting salary. Again, I was just way over worried.

Thanks and again I apologize.

Also consider some companies will pay for your masters.

gpowsang, you remind me of myself when I was in high school just wondering what business major was going to get me a great salary. At that time I thought accounting was the best because of the number of opportunites offered. Of course 5 years have gone by and I no longer have interest in accounting as going through the major I learned that it just wasn’t for me. I think the one thing you should be focused on is are you going to enjoy being an electrical engineer. I believe you can make a great salary doing anything whether it’s aerospace, accountant, salesman, or whatever. The bottomline is, you have to make sure it is something you will be happy with. The only way to be successful is for you to enjoy what it is you’re doing.

Just marry a woman who earns a lot…and it will be easy to support a family.

if you want to make money go into business, if you want to change the world figure out what you like and dont look at the figures until you have to budget.
the end.
