i need to improve on the SAT by 210 points or higher (1790 to 2000+). is elite a good program for the SAT or should i still consider self studying. note, i dont really have time to study by myself. im a really busy person involved with sports and other extracurricular activities...

feels like i dont belong here…

Nah, there are plenty of us here who aren’t geniuses (or genii, if you prefer :)). Personally, I find that I can accomplish much more in a shorter period of time self-studying than in a more organized setting, so self-studying may actually help with your time constraints. However, that may vary from person to person. Haven’t heard of the program you mentioned, though.

P.S. I also am involved in sports, youth orchestra, etc. I don’t get much studying done during the week, but find that a Saturday or Sunday afternoon is a good time to set aside a couple hours to study. Once it becomes routine you won’t even notice the difference.

i would not recommend you doing !@#$ load of EC’s while u lag back on academics.
SAT comes first yo!

And here comes my question,do you guys consider the word ‘‘elitist’’ positive ?

dude don’t pay attention to the word
just try your hardest and stand out in other parts of your applkication

Studying by yourself can take less time, not more. I’d say that studying with an excellent tutor one-on-one is somewhat faster than studying by yourself, while studying by yourself (if you have a sensible program) is somewhat faster than taking a course.

If you need the structure, well, that’s another question, and you should probably sign up for a formal class.

Haha, elite.

It seems as though I wasted my whole summer there, but my score when up like mad.
I went from a 1650 to a 2110.

I think it was just from taking practice tests so many damn times, albeit I had this one really great teacher in my 2100 class.

woah! thats a pretty good score! my friend goes there and gets an average of 2000 per test practice they do. even though thats low CC standards, it got me into it and wondering if its really worth it…

From what I’ve heard, Elite is a very good program. I didn’t go, but my dad is making my sister do it.

so its worth it?

I don’t recommend it that much. Unless you are really motivated to learn a ton and keep reviewing especially the vocabulary words. I didn’t remember many of the vocabulary words for the exam and those quizzes they give you are matching so it is just easy to not memorize them. There grading is totally inaccurate to the actual one and the tests are sometimes inaccurate as well. I was getting 4/12 on my essays about 75% of the time and the other 25% of the time i got between a 6-10. And, when I took the actual exam I got a 12/12. There teachers are actual really knowledge but the material that they give you doesn’t help too much. I think the good thing about it is the ton of multiple choice questions that they give you. Also I was averaging like an 1800 on their tests and on the real test I got a 2100.
