<p>I'm a junior & I have been receiving a lot of mails from college, including Emory.
Of course, my parents would prefer that I apply to HYPS ..-eyeroll-
But they seem to have a decent academic program. ...so I'm asking..is Emory considered "a good school" ? Not in comparison to HYPS, just in general.</p>

<p>i assure you that Emory is far above “decent”. It’s a top 20 school. The Dali Lama went there. What more can I say? If it’s good enough for His Holiness, I’m sure that it’s more than good enough for you. </p>

Although I’m biased as an Emory applicant …I’ll just say that, as stated, it isn’t a top 20 school for nothing. </p>
<p>Not to sound cliche but there is truth behind the whole “any college could be a good college for you” thing. Personally, I’m not into HYSM – because not only are they far away from everything & almost everyone, but they really don’t interest me, for some reason & I didn’t think I’d be happy.
However, I know people that are the perfect fit for these schools, so it really depends on the individual.</p>
<p>Of course, while an Emory diploma may not carry the clout that a HYPSM diploma might, if the name of the university on your undergraduate degree is your main concern --you ought to reconsider your priorities.</p>
