I read on college prow ler that the new administration has killed the school, that ANYONE must be admitted to any party (even people you hate), that parties are almost nonexistant, and that the one thing all the students agree on is that "emory sucks."

This stuff is bothering me a lot, and though college prow ler is a year or two outdated, it's still something I'd like more info about. Share an insight or two, if ya got any. Thanks very much

in a word no. i don't even know what they could mean by "new adminstration." these claims are ridiculous. there are definitely parties. FratRow has parties every weekend and there is no regulation by the school as to who can and cannot be allowed into them. there are also many parties on the clairmont campus and upper class dorms in general. the only thing i can think of that the description might be of is that alcohol is prohibited from the dorms. i don't think that has anything to do with parties. they are certainly allowed and even encouraged at times. for example, every friday at ten there is some kind of party/movie sceening etc. thrown by the school for people to attend. this past weekend was dooley's ball which is a party on the field that lasted until about 2. however, if you're looking for a party school, emory is not the place. if you want a party there is one but emory is not going to have a party every night of the week.
i really disagree with the statement that emory students don't like emory. i've actually never heard anyone say that. the vast majority of students love emory from my experience.
don't believe everything you read

Alcohol is only prohibited from rooms where the residents are under 21. The Jr/Sr dorms aren't dry. While we did get a new president 4 years ago, he has done so much for the school. Some people refer to him as "JWag" short for James Wagner. Everyone loves the guy, and he is very supportive of Greek life in general. Emory can be a lot of fun and very social if that's what you want out of your 4 years. At the same time, you could never leave your room and spend most nights in the library if that's what you wanted. It's what you make of it.

Apparently the KA Mustache Bash I was at last night was just my imagination. Dooley's Ball the night before was just my imagination too. Emory's social scene is absolutely fantastic. It's possibly my favorite part about the school.

One of my friends that lives in Means Hall called up Wagner's office as a joke to see if they could talk to him. His secretary said he wasn't in, but then took down his number. He got a call back, and within a day or two was throwing a football around with the president in the courtyard of his dorm. Great guy.

Oh, and in terms of partying, there's nothing to worry about. There's something to do every weekend.

I went to the recent Relay for Life (an all-night event on the track). When I went to the closing ceremonies at 6am on Saturday morning, Wagner was there. He is invested in this community. President Wagner is one of the reasons so many at Emory are looking forward to the future!
