Is Emory super-obsessed with "interest?"

In other words, is a student who is qualified for Emory statistics and extra-curricular wise goign to be rejected because he or she doesn't show enough "interest?" By interest I mean interest through essays, and even checking off those little box thingies on the Common App Supplement. So, is interest goign to make or break a student?

Hope I'm coherent enough.. I think I'm statistically qualified, but my essay was pretty generic... yikes

in regular decision especially, emory does care about your interest in the school. you should have at least checked some of the boxes to show that emory is not just a safety school for people who want to go to an ivey. when i was at an information session, the people told us that you don't have to worry about checking them all off, it only affects about 5% of the people who apply. hope this helps.

what are those boxes for those of us who applied on the emory app?

Its supposed to say
talked to admissions counselor
talked to college counselor
gone to information session
requested information
requested DVD
visited campus
etc

oh, i see.thanks for your advice! i personally checked off:

College fair
Local Emory reception
Emory website
Friend
Guidance counselor
Letter from a department
Letter from the Office of Admission
Emory student

I hope I don't fall in that 5%! I hope I checked off enough, too.. ahh

you're safe. nothing to worry about.

haha, thanks, i've been really worried about emory especially. we'll see the outcome though, for all of us...
