I know It used to be possible but I was wondering if still works for freshmen.

bump. I’d like to know as well

I an enrolled in enc 3254 writing for engineers for the Fall. The other classes did not fit in my schedule. The advisor told me that it would count as a comp class and I am not sure that I am going into engineering. So I believe they are interchangeable. But to be sure call one of the advisors. They are available MTTH from 8-10, and Wed. different hours. I have called several times and they are very helpful.

Hi! Noticed that you mention being in the ENC3254 professional communications for engineers. In looking on ISIS we couldn’t find the class that specifically said “for engineers” Even went to advising yesterday and they were less than helpful by saying be sure it says “for engineers”. Would you mind sharing the section number for the class you are registered it so I can be sure I am selecting the right course when adding this to my schedule? Also, there are 2 Web classes listed but I can’t tell if they are for engineers but the online class would be better for my schedule. Have you checked on these? Will try to call advising again next week to see if they can determine if these classes are “for engineers” or not.

THANKS!

Ok, there is a common misconception about ENC 3254. There are many versions of it. There is a generic one, as well as engineering, pre-med, pre-law, psychology, etc. The latter 3 tend to fill up quickly, as there is usually only 1 section per semester. The generic and engineering ones have many sections. You can take whichever one you like, and you will still the Composition credits and 6000 words. So, on ISIS, if it doesn’t say “for engineers” or “for pre-med” etc., then it’s the generic one. If you are an engineering major and you take it, it still fulfills the requirement. I recommend the generic one to everyone, because it allows you to choose from a wider range of topics for your papers. I’m currently enrolled in it. Grading is kind of tough, but I’m expected a B+, maybe an A- (A only if I get REALLY lucky).
