Is Engineering Good for a Government Job?

I plan on majoring in mechanical engineering and was wondering if this is a bad major for a government job like the CIA, FBI, etc. Will I not be considered if I have this as my major? I am only a high school senior so I have a lot of time. And I'm referring to my major only so pretend as if other variables don't come into play here, I realize they do though.

the question I would ask yourself is “what do I want to do?” and then choose a degree accordingly. If you don’t want an engineering job, you probably don’t want to major in it.

Keep in mind that CIA and the rest of the IC have programs for undergraduates. You should look into them if you want to work somewhere like that.

I am leaning towards a government job but I’m not opposed to an engineering job, also a mechanical engineering degree can be used for a lot of things.
