Is engineering harder to get into?

I've read somewhere that Rice's engineering college is a lot harder to get into than some of its other colleges. To what extent is that true? And how much would being a female help?

Thanks!

dun think it matters.

No its not a lot harder by any means. You apply to Rice, and you put what division you want. It's not like at U of Minnesota (assuming you are from the Arctic North), where you apply to the College of Engineering.

It may be a very small amount harder, but i bet if you looked at the admission rates based on students that noted the school of humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering as their division, the admit rate would be within 3 percentage points of each other at the most.
