Is Engineering Right For Me?

Hello,
I am very good at math and physics. I am in AP Calc AB and AP Physics B as a senior and getting A's and high B's. It wasn't until the summer of my senior year I thought of majoring in engineering. I applied to schools like Penn State, University of Maryland, and University of Michigan. I got into Penn State recently!
I joined the Robotics club at my school to learn more about applying what I learn in the class.

My question is if I have the math and physics down, and am still not that great yet at applying it to building robots, etc., am I going to be okay as an engineering major?

Basically, going into engineering, is it okay to just know the knowledge, and learn how to apply it in college? (sorry if the question is confusing)

PS. I am pretty good with CAD, and am planning on building a catapult and a robot for a competition.

You’ll be fine. Good engineering programs give students the knowledge they need to succeed and also teach them how to apply it. You’ll take classes which are specifically structured to design aspects of engineering.

You sound smart, but don’t think you know everything yet. You don’t know all the knowledge yet, but you will. Your high school load will be very useful, but you are going to learn a lot more then just Calc AB and AP Physics.

Thanks! I know there’s a lot more to learn. I’ve looked into the courses for Aerospace, Mechanical, and Civil Engineers.

Robotics may be more of an application of mechanical and electrical engineering.
