I'm headin to UC Davis under the College of Environmental and Agricultural Science, does everyone generally take English as a required GE, or is that only relative to your major?

I'm looking to sign up for an english class at a JC, during the summer, and not sure if its the one I should take.

I think all universities have an essay writing class. Also, sometimes they make you take a literature course, but that varies from school to school.

If you are taking courses at a California community college to transfer to a UC or CSU, use [Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org) to match up the community college courses to major and other requirements at the UC or CSU.

Yes, you do because it is part of a GE requirement. You will also need to take a placement test. Here’s their link. [UC Davis Orientation - Freshmen Placement Tests](http://orientation.ucdavis.edu/freshmen/placementtests.asp)
It is wise to speak with the academic advisor at your JC to make sure the class is transferable to the UC’s.

Yes, English is required as part of your GE, but at my CC only ENGWR course is required not ENGRD. You should take OCELITE advice and speak with an academic adviser. Also the site ucbalumnus offered is a great site to know what courses you have to take.

or you can take an AP test and skip it :]
