What can you do with just a BS in Environmental Science and Policy? Do you need to go to grad school?
Is environmental science and policy is your passion, then it could be a great major for you. Some students get entry-level jobs working for state or local governments and some work for nonprofit organizations. It would be desirable to get some good internship experiences . Students who are good with computers and statistics might have additional job opportunities.
Agree with @CheddarcheeseMN.
It’s a great major if you love it. To ensure that you can have the most interesting career, make sure that you take courses like stats and computer science. Hard sciences might also be a great addition, such as chemistry. Other focuses might be on the financial side of things. Env Sci is multidisciplinary. Policy often implies budget and financing. Understanding money related to Env. Sci would also mean that you have an edge in your career.
Every environmental organization needs to keep it’s lights on. That means money. Every environmental project needs funding.
Taking a fundraising course or several courses will ensure that you will be employed. If you can do fundraising and grant writing, these are important skills that are often hard to find.
Accounting is a creative field and applying that to Env. Science will also give you an edge. If your school doesn’t have finance or accounting courses, you can pick them up later often at community colleges for less money than a four-year college, after graduation with your BA.
