Is ESPM 50AC really as easy as everyone says?

I've gone to the first week and already theres lots of reading and lectures are disorganized. Will it get easier? How are the exams structured? Do I need to do the reading?

Also, Music 27 with Van Orden. How are the exams in that class?

dude, you don't need to read that thing at all. I know lectures doesn't make sense, but it doesn't matter. just know the "big picture" (ex: Europeans are all about private properties, Native American loves the nature) and repeat it over and over again on your exam, and you'll do fine.
Sleep in lectures, then go to the exam reviews where Spreyer will go over all the important things to know for the exam. you just need a couple of articles in the reader for your research paper, which btw is graded extremely leniently. As long as you sound logical...ta-dah! 500/500 (which is what i got), or 498/500 (which is what my friend got)
lastly, there're plenty of extra credits. just do a few if you really sleep too much in class.
good luck

Lectures aren't that bad, they usually hinge on one or two points. You should skim the readings, even the professor said so.

75pts of extra credit...

aight, i guess ill just review for the exams right b4 instead of studying it all now. UGBA 10 is taking over my life

Does anyone know if ESPM 50AC is still as easy as they say? These posts are from 4-6 years ago. And if you’re not interested in natural resources and such, is it still worth taking this class? It does fulfill 2 reqs (Philosophy breadth and AC) which is nice. Thanks!

I heard it is harder. he still does the review sessions and stuff but the max # of extra credit pts possible has decreased.

Take theater 52ac! It’s not too bad and it fulfills arts&lit breadth in addition to ac.

I took it last semester and i thought it still seemed pretty easy. Extra credit was reduced to 35 for us. If you’re not interested in natural resources, or minority history (big emphasis on this topic) then it might not be the best class to take. The amount of reading might seem intimidating, but it seems unlikely that you’ll need to buy the readers. I thought the readings weren’t very helpful for the exams. Everything you need for the papers or exams can be learned from lectures and especially review sessions (he basically tells you exactly what you need to know for the exam). So you can basically reiterate what he’s said in lecture for essay questions, and papers/exams are graded very leniently. As long as you have the basic idea and can provide an example or two in the essays, you should be able to get a good amount of points on assignments/exams. I think about 60% of the class was in A range last semester.
