Is essay about identity too common?

Is representing how being astride two cultures was difficult relevant?
However I will expose just the pros of this situation because I heard it was definitly clich

Hmm… It depends on you. A common essay could be one that transcends culture and teaches you that culture is just one facet of your life. Or you could do the woe is me thing.

As always, it depends on how well it’s written.

It’s not too common; it’s just not a personal way to approach things. You don’t need to try too hard to create themes larger than yourself. If you want to talk about your own experiences straddling the fence between two cultures, that’s fine.

You represent no one but yourself to the reader.
