Is Essay Score Important?

Hello all,
So I’m hoping to study engineering at an ivy or somewhere comparable (MIT, Berkeley, Stanford, etc.) I know that’s wicked annoying to see on here all the time. I took the October SATs and got a 2290 (790 reading, 710 math, 790 writing with an 11 essay), then I took the November test and got a 2310 (750 Reading, 800 Math, 760 writing with a 9 essay). This essay isn’t a big deal for schools that use score choice, because I’ll just send my first writing score, I was just wondering if the 9 on the essay would look really bad on my apps to schools that don’t participate in score choice, like UPenn, my number one school. Should I ask for a score verification? I don’t know how big of a deal this 9 is, and I don’t even really know why I got it, I didn’t think my essay was that bad, I even thought it was better than my first 11 one.

Any help is appreciated!
Thank you!

Oops, didn’t mean to say I’d just send my first writing score, just that this is the only one the scores that superscore will look at!

It is not important. You don’t even report it to most schools.

Most schools place less emphasis on the writing portion of the SAT when compared to CR and M, yet alone the essay. As long as the essay is 8+, no damage is being done.
