Is Facebook secure? I'm paranoid.

Last week I was on Facebook when this random kid facebook chatted me. I was confused because I've never seen his name before. How did he get on my friends list? So, I ask who the f*'k he was and he said he met me from church. I clicked on his profile and somehow I'm friends with him!!!! I know that some of my real friends change their name for fun but this seemed like his legit name. He went to some high school, and had some 250 friends. He had real pictures of him and typical posts were on his wall. There were comments, likes, and tags on his posts like other typical people. BUT I'D NEVER MET HIM BEFORE. WE HAD NO FRIENDS IN COMMON. HE LIVED SOMEWHERE RANDOM LIKE OKLAHOMA. I PANICKED AND BEGAN YELLING AT HIM ON CHAT, AND HE LOGGED OUT.

This hacker/creeper/wierdo probably took all my personal info. Why did he chat me? I know I have never added him before. I maintain my friends and delete the druggies and whatnot. This is scary. Has this ever happened to you?

Facebook is not secure–I’m gonna get you.

I’ve never had anything similar happen to me or anyone I know, but that is so weird.

[Welcome to Facebook](Facebook)
Lol, thanks for giving your facebook to me. srs bizness btw

Just think of yourself as too insignificant to be paid the attention of creepers out there. And so what? He’s in Oklahoma. You think he’d come all the way to your house when he can probably just go next-door?

They really live in a far away country. They find out who your relatives are and call them and say you are arrested and need to send bail money. It happened to my friends grandpa.

You have to check your Facebook settings in order to be able to choose how to accept. Maybe you added him by mistake, you though he was someone else?
Or the most common one is, when you send your invitations, maybe you had it on msn and you deleted him but his name stayed on hotmail …

“Welcome to Facebook
Lol, thanks for giving your facebook to me. srs bizness btw”

It sent me to the Facebook login screen. srz bizness.

What personal info do you have on FB that would be worth stealing?

People need to realize that in this day and age, your basic info is all over the web. You at aschool? Most likely you’re somewhere on the internet for school related material . You do something admirable in the community etc? You’re on the web.

So what? Don’t put your SSN or # online, and you’re fine.

Ps - the government already has access to your computer, just saying ;)

Yeah, I justed typed Bomb, Al Qaeda, Obama, Terrorist. I heard the NSA flags stuff that has certain keywords. Therefore, the NSA is probably tracking this thread. But it’s probably been automatically filtered already.

I’m more scared about how he got on my friends list than the minimal information he got. It’s creepy.

I’ve had random people pop up on mine before too… It may just be a glitch. People say they friend requested and automatically got accepted, or that i approved a person i never did.

I’ve also heard complainst about facebook where sometimes friend requests automatically get accepted. This happened once to me, but luckily I actually knew the guy that automatically got added to my friends list. That’s probably what happened to you. I would just delete the guy (if you haven’t already) and not worry about it.

“It sent me to the Facebook login screen. srz bizness.”
That’s because you were logged out of facebook. You can’t view fbook pages when you’re logged out.

hahaha nice trick boston1993. I didn’t know you were talking about until I did it. I wonder if that would actually scare anybody?
