Is Fafsa mandatory for Uc

Using calculaters i have found out that i will not qualify for any income based aid, do i still need to submit the fafsa for the ucs in order to get accepted, or can i not submit the fafsa and still be admitted? Thanks

You do need to apply to fafsa

For scholarship consideration, you may still want to file the FASFA. My son’s do not qualify for need based FA, but I submit it each year in case they do apply.

No he does NOT need to file FAFSA for UCs. Where did you get that idea? Do you think if Bill Gates kids applied to UCs, that he’d submit FAFSA ? I have several nieces and nephews who’ve gone or are going to UCs, and none submitted FAFSA. none.

no school can require FAFSA submission in order to be accepted.

I think you must also file FAFSA if you intend to get a government loan. Isn’t that correct? I have a junior so the FAFSA is still a mystery. At least one school we looked at required it to be considered for merit aid.

Yes you need it if you want a student loan or a parent plus federal loan. Otherwise you don’t need it for UC.

Yes some colleges want it for merit aid.

The OP’s question was whether he had to submit FAFSA in order to be ACCEPTED…and the answer is NO.

If he looks on the scholarship pages and sees that some merit awards require FAFSA, then he can submit FAFSA for that. The deadline may be soon or passed for that, though.
