Hello everyone. This is only my second post, I really hope someone out there can help us before my son has to commit to the college he is going to attend. My son was accepted to ND and offered enough of a scholarship, for his freshman year at least, that we could afford to send him. This was a lovely and unexpected surprise considering the amounts that schools like BC and Washington and Lee thought constituted our "need". My question is, is ND good at continuing the same level of scholarship support all four years. I know the self-help portion goes up as the fees go up but if they just continue the same level of scholarship support we can make it. What bothers me is that, unlike another school my son is considering, they don't guarantee 8 semesters of aid although the award can be renewed for up to that long. I would hate to have my son start somewhere that he won't be able to finish for financial reasons. Does anyone have any experience in this area? Please help.

This is partially a bump because I don't personally receive financial aid here but I believe ND is very consistent. It, of course, will change some depending on how much you are making and things of that nature, but other than that it should remain solid. It isn't like another school I know where they pulled scholarships from kids because they were going under, ND is in great financial standing and I believe the endowment is nearly 6 billion dollars, so that provides a lot of support and protection for scholarships (I went to a talk by the ND CIO recently, which is where that number comes from).

I think you can trust that ND's financial offers are not going to go down because of something changing on our side, but it may go down if your family starts making more money or things of that nature. That is just my view though, more opinions would help!

Dear irish68178,

Thank you so much for your reply. I appreciate the help you give. I've read many of your other posts and found them beneficial as well.
