is financial need something that is considered..?

<p>is financial need something that is considered by admission officers when taking students off of the waitlist? I'm on the waitlist for UCLA...</p>

<p>I don’t believe so. The vast majority of public Us would not consider need - just gap the student. One thing to think about is if you have that much need how will you afford the school…</p>

<p>I think it depends on the school. A state university might not but I know many private schools use the waitlist to cherry pick to fill needs and if their need is full-pay then that’s what they go for. Waitlists are generally need-aware.</p>

<p>If they want you they will choose you (perhaps you fill another niches) and it’s hard to say what would happen with FA. But for privates I think it helps to be full-pay on the waitlist.</p>
