I will be applying to the University of Tennessee soon and it says that I need to have taken a visual or performing art class in high school. This year(Senior year) i will be taking Dual Enrollment Fine Arts Survey. Is it considered a Visual or Performing Art?

I thought this would be an easy question, does anyone know?

I’ve never heard of that class, but it sounds like it’s art-related! Could you describe it?

Sure! The only description my school’s website gives is as below

Students learn more about the arts (music, drama, art, dance, etc.).

That’s all it says

Sounds like music/art appreciation but I wouldn’t think so? I’d assume visual/performing arts to be along the lines of photography, art, drafting, or orchestra.

Well this is what it says on the University’s requirement page.

1 unit – Arts

Dance, Theatre, Music (instrumental, vocal, history, or theory), Visual Art (studio art or art history)

So in a sense it includes history and stuff like that so isn’t that similar to what my class describes?

Oh then yeah, it would probably be fine. Didn’t know theory and history fell under their guidelines.

From “TENNESSEE HIGH SCHOOL COURSES WHICH MEET THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE AND TENNESSEE BOARD OF REGENTS UNIVERSITY ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS”:
Basically the admissions people will evaluate it, and in all likelihood determine that it satisfies the VPA requirement.

Interesting, it seems that I should be fine. I sent an email to them anyway asking the same question. I just want to be sure just incase I should change me schedule while I still can.
