Is Flagler a realistic school to aim for?

Hello, I’m an aspiring high school senior and I was wondering if Flagler would be a good college to apply for?
GPA: 3.01 UW, 3.2 W. (Disgraceful, I know.)
SAT: 590 CR, 520 M, 610 WR (1720)
ACT: 25
I don’t have many EC’s besides baseball my sophomore year. What do you think my chances are?

.

From Flagler’s website, it looks like you have a good chance of being admitted, but don’t consider it a safety college. Your test scores are above average and your GPA is below average. Admission may depend on the actual courses you have taken. See below:

Flagler College evaluates students on an individual and holistic basis. The following academic profile represents the mean of admitted students from last year. Although these numbers provide a good range to aim for, they do not represent minimum requirements or cut-off points for admission *

Class Academic Statistics
Mean GPA Mean SAT (Critical Reading + Math) Mean ACT
3.53 1050 23

  • Education majors must have a minimum of a 21 composite ACT or 1010 CR+M on the SAT in order to be considered for admission. Please note that if students have already completed their A.A. degree, the minimum test score requirement for the Education department will not apply to their application. Coastal Environmental Science majors must have a minimum of 21 in the Math section of the ACT or 500 in the Math section of the SAT in order to be considered for admission.

Freshmen applicants must complete a minimum of 16 units in grades 9 through 12. While a prescribed course of study is not required, prospective students are advised to take four years of English, four years of mathematics (to include Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry), three years of science (one laboratory science), and four years of social studies and academic electives. The College will calculate a core GPA taking into consideration a college-preparatory schedule. Applicants should realize that the aforementioned courses represent the minimum preparation and are not necessarily considered satisfactory or recommended preparation for college-level work in every undergraduate area of study.

I like you for Flagler. Your GPA is below the mean (3.53) but your SAT is above the mean of 1050, as is your ACT. If you were my son I would say to apply and see what happens.

What do you want to study? Do you live in Florida? How are you planning to pay for college?

Good luck!

I always figured my GPA would be my downfall. I’ve applied, and they said I’d probably get a decision after December. I want to study business, more specifically Business Administration and Economics. I live in Central Florida. I plan on paying with a mixture of Scholarships, aid, and loans lol. Really hoping I get in, seems like everything’s riding on these next few decisions.
