Is Foreign Language an Academic Class?

I'm having trouble finding two teachers who know me well enough to ask for letter of recommendation. Right now, I'm asking my Chemistry AP teacher as well as my Spanish teacher for letters. However, in some applications, "academic teachers" are noted. I'd just like to ask if Spanish teacher would fall under that category - or is it only Math, Science, English, and Social Studies?

Thanks. =)

Yes, foreign language is an academic class.

Foreign Language is one of the five academic cores: Math, Science, English, Social Studies, Foreign Language

Thanks, Marian and mominva! =)

How would college adcoms feel if one was to get a choir teacher's recommendation?

Yeah, I'd like to know the same thing as glucose101. I have a teacher who knows me REALLY well, and wrote me an INCREDIBLE recommendation for a study abroad program I did. I want her to write me a recommendation for college, but she has never been my teacher in one of the core academic subject, but was my advisor for a club and a community service class I have been involved in since sophomore year. I feel that a recommendation from her will add a great deal to my application, and could make the difference between an acceptance and a rejection. How do I add her recommendation, though, since she was not my teacher from a core academic subject and there is no place for other recs?

It would be an additional recommendation, but you still need a recommendation from a core academic subject teacher. (You "add" it by simply having her send it to the school.)
