My D20 is interested in small liberal arts colleges with unique academic experiences. Her list so far includes places like Sarah Lawrence, Macalester, Bryn Mawr, Mount Holyoke. But she loves New York City, and has suddenly fixated on the Gallatin experience at NYU. Can you really get that SLAC feeling at Gallatin? Is it really the best of all possible worlds? The best applicants for Gallatin have a very clear plan of what they want to do in college and how Gallatin can help them structure a course that works for them. If she has such a plan, great. If not, she may also want to explore the liberal studies program, which is also aimed at a SLAC-type experience.
