Is it better than NYU?

yes and yes

I echo zapfino’s sentiments and add that it is not even close.

Double ditto.
The question actually surprises me, since that is perhaps the thing for which Georgetown is most well known.
It is one of the very, very best educational institutions in the country, if not the world, for international relations.

Okay, thank you! Admission scares me though ): but im determined. I’ll be entering as a Junior this fall at my high school and will be doing the IB program. Im trying to get back on track since my grades, gpa and class rank arent so hot due to my freshman/sophomore year. I had some personal family issues…

Admissions officers really do pay close attention to grade trends, so you still have a good shot if you really kick some butt in a challenging course load this coming (junior) year and you carefully explain your personal issues in your application (essays or elsewhere). I would also highly recommend maybe taking some Georgetown college credit classes (i.e. in the “Summer College” or “Summer Honors Intensive” programs) during the summer after your junior year. What better way to show “I can succeed here” than to successfully go “toe to toe” with current Georgetown students in the classroom? Besides, you will have fun, a great learning experience (the programs are really well-run), and get to really know the school so you can decide if it really is the one for you.
